What is your priority from 1-10 in RTS games restricted to games like warcraft3/starcraft/ and games alike?

for e.g
1. Economy
2. building army …
3. gaining another expansion
etc etc

And what resources do you give to achieving each if possible? Thanks for your help. Hope this makes some sense.

This is how I start off with night elf. I’m currently 15′th in the wc3 ladder.

3 wisps into mine, one on alter one on moonwalk.

I build wisps for lumber until i have enough gold to make a ancient of war. Then i keep building wisps for lumber until I have about six on it.

The remaining 2 wisp’s that i have from completing the buildings go to the mine.

After that I keep just spamming archers, creep and get an expansion. Once I have it, my army is built within minutes as gold just keeps coming!

I find that expansions and upgrading units WIN GAMES. I have an expansion so early that it isn’t funny, so by the time the enemy has one I have around 3.

This means that if my army gets owned, takes me 2 mins 30 seconds to rebuild the whole thing.

  2. I play starcraft and these are the things I tend to keep in mind while playing the game:

    1. Economy (building miners and mining, keep producing miners until saturated depending on race)
    2. Scouting (any way possible, any 1 expendable unit or floating building)
    3. Build order and defense (plan and counter)
    4. Macro
    5. Expanding
    6. Harassment
    7. Mirco
    8. Map Control
    9. Timing
    10. Upgrades

You asked for 1-10, but there are obviously more, but these are the top 10 that I keep in mind. These might not be in any particular order (expanding and harassment might be switched around, Micro can fit anywhere from 3-10 depending on what kind of player you are). things that I have left out are like: unit statistics (this pretty much comes with experience in playing anyways) changing unit combination, transition timing, mobility, abusing map details, etc.

I’m not quite sure what you mean by what resources do I give to achieve each… I guess most resources would go into macro, unit making is what wins you the game.

it really depends on what kind of player you are
