However, with FPS's its a lot of motor skills as well as mental. Step 1 - Get yourself some good hardware. Since FPS's are mouse based, you'll do good if you got a Logitech G5 or G7 mouse. The G7 feels heavier, but give them a shot and see which works best. Step 2 - Practice against bots at varying difficulty levels. If you can beat Xaero in Q3A in Nightmare mode, you're ready for the big league. Step 3 - Practice the basics such as Circle Strafing, Bunny hopping and spend time to explore maps in Spectator mode. Step 4 - play at lower resolutions. As much as it may look crappy, it'll still mean that you can see 'more' of the other guy. Someday's its almost instant. But normally the people that are pwning you probably have been playing for a good 4 hours straight. They also could be more experienced.
