I can play most FPS Games (DoD, BF2, RO) for a couple of months and become pretty good. But, I am not consistent at all! Sometimes I’ll do really well and just rip it up but then I come back the next day and totally get owned. It seems very random. Any advice to hone my skills so I can CONSISTENTLY play as a decent player would be appriciated.

You have to spend hours in practice b4 you even start to get into the zone. Someday’s its almost instant. But normally the people that are pwning you probably have been playing for a good 4 hours straight.
They also could be more experienced. I’m 21, and i know better gamers than me that are 25. So no worries.

headshots are not always easy to get. i find the best way to get better at these games is to play the best ppl at the game. and watch how they move were they hide. i started playing farcry instincts awhile ago like 8 9 months ago and at first i got bum rushed something awefull. but after watching all the pros at it. the easiest way to beat them is use thre strategys aginst them. use lots of folage hide beihind rocks and houses. make sure you have a good vairety of weapons. dont always go for the sniper rifle. its alot of mix. and half the time most of these ppl really have no life so thats all they do is play the games.

The trick to getting good at anything is always PRACTICE.
However, with FPS’s its a lot of motor skills as well as mental. Step 1 – Get yourself some good hardware. Since FPS’s are mouse based, you’ll do good if you got a Logitech G5 or G7 mouse. The G7 feels heavier, but give them a shot and see which works best.
Step 2 – Practice against bots at varying difficulty levels. If you can beat Xaero in Q3A in Nightmare mode, you’re ready for the big league.
Step 3 – Practice the basics such as Circle Strafing, Bunny hopping and spend time to explore maps in Spectator mode.
Step 4 – play at lower resolutions. As much as it may look crappy, it’ll still mean that you can see ‘more’ of the other guy.

you get owned the next day because there are higher lvl players on then you. Some people have NO life so all they do is sit arouind and play video games so that way they have one thing they are good at…………..besides being totally lame
